Azlyn Elizabeth Arguelles

Azlyn Elizabeth Arguelles is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Joseph Arguelles of Ocean Springs.  Her maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood Halat Beckham, Jr. of Wiggins, Mississippi.  Her paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Ivon Anthony Arguelles, Sr. of Biloxi.

She is an honors graduate of St. Martin High School, where she was a member of the State Championship Dance Team for four years and captain in her senior year. She is also a cum laude graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She is currently employed with the Jackson County School District as a first-grade teacher at St. Martin East Elementary School while continuing her pursuit of a master’s degree in Counseling.

She was a 14-year dancer at Nancy’s School of Dance where she was apart of the Nationally Award-winning Nancy Ward Dancers.  She was also a member of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Perkette Dance Team from 2018 to 2020, ranking 6th in the Nation.

Azlyn was a 2021 Gulf Coast Debutante.  She is a member of the Cathedral Parish of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Biloxi.  She is also a member of the Order of Billikins and the Krewe of Hera Carnival Organizations.

Azlyn served as a flag bearer in 2012.  Her brother, Aaron Arguelles, served as a page to King D’Iberville in 2015 and served as a flag bearer in 2018.  Her father, Paul Arguelles, has served as the Gulf Coast Carnival Association Ball Chairman from 2011 to present and serves on the GCCA Board of Directors.  Her mother, Karen Arguelles, has served as a Captain Krewe Liaison since 2011.

Jullianna Gabrielle Balius

Julianna Gabrielle Balius is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Craig Balius II of Biloxi.  Her maternal grandparents are Mr. Marcelo Unda and Mr. and Mrs. Pete Rivera.  Her paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Craig Balius.

Julianna is a graduate of Biloxi High School where she graduated with high honors and served as Student Body Council Treasurer, Class Secretary, Environmental Club Secretary, Junior Auxiliary of Biloxi and Ocean Springs Crown Club. She was selected for the Biloxi Chamber of Commerce Junior Leadership Program and as a team leader for Our Lady of Fatima ACTS retreats.

Julianna is currently a Senior at the University of Mississippi where she is majoring in Business Marketing with an emphasis in Sales.  She is a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority and the Rotary Club.

Julianna and her family are parishioners of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi, MS and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Oxford, MS.

Julianna served a GCCA Flag Bearer in 2016.

Anna Elizabeth Broadus

Anna Elizabeth Broadus is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Broadus III of Gulfport.   Her maternal grandparents are the late Mr. Herbert Holder and the late Mrs. Marguerite Holder.  Her paternal grandparents are Mrs. Gwendolyn Broadus and the late Mr. W. W. Broadus.

Anna is a graduate of St. Patrick Catholic High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, and Student Council and served as class vice president for four years.  She was a four-year varsity cheerleader, voted class favorite, served as community service chair for the Cotillion Club of Gulfport, and was the President of the Robotics team.   She was also a member of the Key Club, Interact Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Big Buddies Club, and Yearbook Editor.

She graduated with Honors, Cum Laude, from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Science with a concentration in Child Development. She was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority, Treasurer for Student Council on Family Relations, Life Skills Mentor for Mississippi State ACCESS Program, Student Association Freshman Edge member, French Club, and Pre-Occupation Therapy Organization. She was on the President’s list all four years, was the recipient of the Parkie-Childress Bedenbaugh Scholarship, the Academic Excellence Scholarship, and received the Trauma-Informed child Advocacy Certification.  Anna recently completed an internship at the T. K. Martin Center for Technology and Disability.   

Anna is a member of St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport.  She volunteers as a Tutor at Ms. Smith’s Tutoring Services, Make-A-Wish Mississippi, American Red Cross Heart Walk and Blood Drive and was a member of the Search Team and Spirit Mover Team for the Diocese of Biloxi. Anna was the recipient of the St. Timothy Award for the Diocese of Biloxi. She is currently a preschool teacher at St. James Catholic Elementary School and plans to attend Occupational Therapy school in the future.  

Anna’s sister, Hope Broadus, was a Maid in 2017.

Mary Katherine Filipich

Miss Mary Katherine Filipich is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicky Filipich of Biloxi.  Her maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Harold Catchot Sr. of Biloxi.  Her paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Nick “K9“ Filipich of Biloxi.

She is a graduate of St. Patrick Catholic High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, National High School Scholars, and campus ministry team.  She was selected to serve on the Biloxi Chamber of Commerce Junior Youth Leadership program. Mary Katherine is currently a Super Senior at the University of Mississippi was she is studying Hospitality Management and Entrepreneurship.  She is the recipient of the Luckday Scholarship, a member of the Chi Omega Sorority, Rho Lambda Honor Society, Mortar Board, Catholic Campus Ministry, Kappa Omicron Nu Honor Society, Ole miss Association of Southern Hospitality, National Honor Society of Leadership and Success and served as Chi Omega Community Service Director.  Mary Katherine volunteers her time with several organizations in Oxford, Mississippi: The Boys and Girls Club in Oxford, the Leap Frog, More than a Meal, Food Pantry of Oxford, Red Cross Blood Drive and Biloxi St. Vincent de Paul Society. 

Mary Katherine served as a flag bearer in 2012.  Her mother, Michelle Filipich, served as a maid in 1989.  Her grandfather, Harold Catchot Sr., served as a duke in 1980.  Her uncle, Dr. Robert “Bobby” Watts, served as Lt. of Carnival in 2010-2011, Captain of Carnival 2012-2013, a Duke in 1997 and 2020.  Her cousin, Katelyn Watts, served as a flag bearer in 2003, maid in 2013 and Queen Ixolib in 2014.  Her cousin, Austin Watts, served as a flag bearer in 2005.

Elizabeth Anne Polk

Elizabeth Anne Polk is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Hal Polk of Biloxi, MS.  Her maternal grandparents are Ms. Patricia A. Galle’ and the late Mr. Keith M. Galle.  Her paternal grandparents are Ms. Joyce Polk and the late Mr. Hal M. Polk.

Elizabeth graduated in 2019 from Biloxi High School with highest honors.  She was a member of the National Honor Society, National Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, Key Club, the Junior Auxiliary of Biloxi-Ocean Springs Crown Club, and a Gabrielle’s Trendsetter.  She attended American Legion Magnolia Girls State, Donald Zacharias Leadership Conference, and Biloxi Chamber of Commerce Junior Leadership.  Elizabeth was a varsity softball player, a baseball diamond girl, and elected Biloxi High School most school spirited.

She is a President’s Honor Roll Senior at Mississippi State University, where she is studying Business Administration with a Minor in Marketing; she will graduate in May 2023. She is a member of the Sigma Alpha Lambda Honor Society, Rick Management and Insurance Program, Catholic Campus Ministry, and Phi Mu Sorority, where she has served as Vice President of Committees, House Manager and Recording Secretary.  Elizabeth is the recipient of the John M. and Elizabeth Beeman Bleuer and Old Main Scholarships and was awarded the Student Success Scholar Award.

Elizabeth is a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi, MS., and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Starkville.  She volunteers her time with the Salvation Army, Starkville Public Library, and Sudduth Elementary.  Elizabeth was a 2021 Gulf Coast Debutante.

Elizabeth served as a page to King d’Iberville 2012, Mark Mavar, as a flag bearer in 2014 and as Key Girl in 2019.  Her mother, Melissa Galle’ Polk, served as a maid in 1994 and currently serves on the GCCA Board of Directors.  Her father, Stephen Hal Polk, served as a duke in 2009, Lieutenant of Carnival 2014-2015, Captain of Carnival 2016-2017 and currently serves as a GCCA Board of Director.

Molly Beeson Schmidt

Miss Molly Beeson Schmidt is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Joseph “Robbie” Schmidt, Jr. of Biloxi.  Her maternal grandparents are Mrs. Myra Cospelich Brune and The Late Mr. Glenn E. Brune Sr. of Ocean Springs.  Her paternal grandparents are the late Dr. and Mrs. Robert Joseph Schmidt, Sr. of Biloxi.

Molly is a 2018 graduate of Biloxi High School where she was graduated with honors, was a member of the National Honor Society, National High School Scholars, National Business Honor Society, and National Junior Honor Society.  She received the excellence in Information Technology Award and the Outstanding in Progress of Astronomy Award.  She attended the Frances A. Karnes Center for Gifted Studies.  Molly is a 2022 graduate of the University of South Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in History. She was a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, the USA Chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success and a member of USA’s Rho Theta chapter of Phi Alpha Theta.

Molly and her family are parishioners of the Cathedral Parish of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Biloxi. She is a volunteer with the Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum and Nativity Youth Ministry.  She was instrumental in organizing Thanksgiving baskets for those in need, hosting a Children’s Christmas party for children in the foster care system and making blankets and raising money for single mothers with newborns.  She has served as a GCCA office volunteer and served on the GCCA Parade Committee since 2019.  Molly was a 2019 Mississippi Gulf Coast Debutante and is a member of Les Masquees carnival organization.

Molly served as a page in 2011 to King d’Iberville AJM “Butch” Oustalet, as a flag bearer in 2014, and as Key Girl in 2018. Her sister, Miia Newman, served as a flag bearer in 2008 and Key Girl in 2013. Her father, Robbie Schmidt served as the GCCA Ball Chairman from 2005 to 2011, GCCA Parade Chairman from 2019 to present and currently serves on the GCCA Board of Directors.  Her mother, Jennifer Schmidt is the current Executive Director for GCCA. Her aunt, Margaret Schmidt Davis, served as a maid in 1986.  Her Uncle, Roland Weeks Jr., served as a Duke in 1973 and King d’Iberville in 1977.  Her Great-Grandfather, Dr. Harry Schmidt, Sr. served as King d’Iberville 1950.

Allison Elizabeth Streiff

Allison Elizabeth Streiff is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michel B. Streiff of Ocean Springs.  Her maternal grandparents are Mrs. Shirley Whittington and the late Mr. Donald Whittington.  Her paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Michel A. Streiff.

She is a graduate of Ocean Springs High School where she graduated with high honors, was a member of the National Honor Society, and a recipient of the Rotary Youth Leadership Award.  She was captain of the Ocean Springs Varsity Cheer Squad, a UCA All-American Cheerleader, a 6A Varsity Cheerleading State Champion, Diamond Girl Captain, Broadcast Journalism Club Vice President, Ocean Springs Cotillion Vice President, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Representative, and a member of the homecoming court.

Allison graduated magna cum laude from Mississippi State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing with a minor in Integrated Digital Media.  She was a Mississippi State Coed Cheerleader and a UCA cheer instructor.  She was a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Gamma Beta Phi National Honor Society, the American Marketing Association, Maroon Volunteers, and a T.K. Martin Ambassador.  She was also a member of Phi Mu Sorority where she served as Membership Director, Recruitment Committee Chair, Spirit Week Team Committee Chair, and Phi Director Assistant. 

Allison is a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Ocean Springs.  She was a 2019 Gulf Coast Debutante and is a member of Les Masquees. She is currently employed as a sales representative for Harway in Austin, Texas. 

Allison’s sister, Lindsay Streiff, served as a Maid to Queen Ixolib in 2020.

Hannah Elise Warren

Hannah Elise Warren of Gulfport is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Michael Warren of Gulfport.  Her maternal grandmother is Ms. Nancy Elizabeth Pepperman. Her paternal grandparents are Mr. Lawrence Wayne Warren and Ms. Beverly Joyce Warren.

She is a graduate of Gulfport High School where she graduated with honors and was voted Gulfport High’s Most Beautiful. She was a 4-year varsity cheerleader, member of the homecoming court, and a Universal Cheerleading Association 4-time All-American Cheerleader. She was also a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, Interact Club, and the Fellowship of Christian

Athletes. Hannah was a part of the Middle College Program where she attended her junior and senior years of high school at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, graduating with her Associate of Arts degree and high school diploma in May of 2020. At MGCCC, Hannah was a member of the Science Club and the homecoming court. Hannah graduated in December from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor’s in Psychology. She is a member of Phi Mu Sorority. In June, she plans to attend nursing school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Hannah danced with Kelli’s Steps Showstoppers and was a 2022 member of the Gulf Coast Debutante Society. She received her Certified Nursing Assistant license in January 2022.

She and her family are members of Trinity United Methodist Church in Gulfport and Pinelake Church in Starkville.

Hannah served as a flag bearer in 2015. Her father, Steven Warren, served as a duke in 2011. Her sister, Haley Warren, served as a flag bearer in 2016. Her sister, Madison Warren, served as a flag bearer in 2013, a maid in 2020, and as Queen Ixolib in 2022.
