2023 Dukes Announced

DUKE HEATH GRYDER ALLEN 

Heath Gryder Allen of Ocean Springs, MS.  He is the father of Gryder Allen.  His parents are the late Mrs. Belinda Gryder and the late Mr. Gene Allen. 

Heath is a 1997 graduate of Ocean Springs High School. He attended the University of Mississippi, where he received a Bachelor in Business Management.  He was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.

Heath is the current manager of Knuckleheads in Ocean Springs, MS and serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Village Idiots, LLC.  He is a member of the Slavonian Benevolent Association and currently serves on the Board for The Revelers.  Heath enjoys spending time on the water and fishing the islands on his lugger the “Easy Ed”.  His favorite pastime is making memories with his son Gryder such as going to watch Ole Miss win the baseball national championship.

Heath’s mother, Belinda Gryder served as a maid in 1973.  His sister, Alexis Allen McCarron served as a maid in 2005.

DUKE WILLIAM “BILL” STUART BRISCOE

William “Bill” Stuart Briscoe of Biloxi is the husband of Ashley Grayson Briscoe. They are the parents of son Donovan Briscoe and their beloved family dog “Lola”. Bill is the son of Mr. Mendy Briscoe and Ms. Frances Good of Biloxi. 

Bill is a 1994  high school graduate of Biloxi High School.  He graduated in 1998 from the University of Mississippi, where he received a Bachelor in Business Administration; he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.  Bill currently serves as the Market President at Cadence Bank in Biloxi, MS.  

Bill is the current treasurer for Goodwill Industries of South Mississippi and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Coastal Mississippi Mardi Gras Museum. He is Past President of Biloxi First and is a current member of The Revelers, Order of Mithras and Biloxi Businessmen’s Club.  Bill is an avid outdoorsman that enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends and family.

DUKE MATTHEW THOMAS HARKINS

Matt Harkins of Gulfport is the husband of Stephanie Seymour Harkins. They are the parents of Holland, Ava Riley, Houston, and Jackson Harkins. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harkins, Jr. of Louisville, Mississippi and Mrs. Margaret Plummer and the late Mr. Joe Plummer of Gulfport, MS.

Matt is a 1992 Gulfport High School graduate.  He graduated from Mississippi State University, where he received a Bachelor of Business in Finance and Economics and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

Matt is the owner of Matt Harkins State Farm in Gulfport since 2018. He serves on the agent’s advisory council for State Farm and is a member of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce.  He is a member of the ALS Association for Louisiana and Mississippi and a volunteer at Feed My Sheep and The Salvation Army.

Matt and his family are members of Trinity United Methodist Church in Gulfport, Bayou Bluff Tennis Club, Gulfport Yacht Club, and The Revelers Carnival Organization.

His daughter, Ava Riley Harkins served as Flag Bearer in 2019.

DUKE JOHN PAYTON HOOD

John Payton Hood of Gulfport is the husband of Katherine “Katie” Hewes Hood. They are the parents of Hewes and Weezie Hood. He is the son of Mrs. Patti Landrum and the late Mr. Billy Hood.

John Payton is a 2005 graduate of St. John High School in Gulfport.  He graduated from the University of Mississippi, where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration and Managerial Finance degree and is also a graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Banking.  During his time at Ole Miss, John Payton was a member of the Chancellor’s Leadership Class and a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.  He is a Vice President and Commercial Banker at Hancock Whitney in Gulfport.

John Payton is currently the 2023 Chairman of the Board for the Gulfport Chamber of Commerce and serves as a board member of the Mississippi Early Childhood Investment Council.  He is a 2017 graduate of Leadership Gulf Coast, a member of the Century Club of Gulfport, where he served as President in 2017, a member of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Ole Miss Alumni Association, and a member of The Revelers Carnival Association.  John Payton, Katie, and their children are parishioners of St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport. His wife, Katie Hood, was a flag bearer in 2002 and a maid to Queen Ixolib in 2010.  His father-in-law, Billy Hewes, was a duke to King d’Iberville in 2005-2006.  His sister-in-law, Sarah Margaret Hewes, was a flag bearer in 2004 and a maid to Queen Ixolib in 2013.  His brother-in-law, Gardner Hewes, was a flag bearer in 2006.  His brother-in-law, Sam Hewes, was a flag bearer in 2011.

DUKE GREGORY SCOTT MASON

Gregory Scott Mason of Biloxi is the husband of Christina Mason.  They are the parents of son John Thomas Mason.  Greg is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Mason of Biloxi.

Greg is a graduate of Mercy Cross High school. He graduated in 2004 with honors from Mississippi State University where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration with a double major in Banking and Finance and Insurance. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Greg is currently the Senior Vice President at Cadence Wealth Management and serves as the head of the Coastal Division of Wealth Management for Cadence.

Greg is a parishioner of the Cathedral Parish of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Biloxi. He is currently a member of the Bulldog club, Financial Planning Association, Order of Mithras, The Revelers and Mississippi State Alumni Association.

His wife, Christina Mason, served as a maid in 2008.  His brother, Patrick Mason, served as a duke in 2022.  His Uncle, Dr. John Mallet served as a duke in 1997 and 2019.  His Uncle, Dr. Presley Mallet served as a duke in 2015.  His sister-in-law, Dewey Brashier Mason, served as a maid in 2008 and Queen Ixolib 2009.

DUKE JOEL LYNN MOODY JR.

Joel Lynn Moody Jr. of Biloxi is the husband of Erin Williams Moody. They are the parents of daughter Madeline Gail Moody and son Joel L. Moody III “Tripp”. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Joel L. Moody Sr of Biloxi, MS.

Joel is a graduate of Mercy Cross High School.  He graduated from the University of Mississippi, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.  Joel is a 2013 graduate of Gulf Coast Business Council Master’s program and a 2015 graduate of Leadership Gulf Coast. He is currently the Vice President of Asphalt Operations for Warren Paving in Gulfport, MS.   

Joel and his family are parishioners of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi, MS.  He is a member of The Revelers and Order of Mithras.

DUKE JAY MICHAEL RUBENSTEIN

Jay Michael Rubenstein of Ocean Springs is the husband of Eden Ziegler Rubenstein. They are the parents of daughters Isabella Elise Rubenstein and Sydney Elaina Rubenstein. His parents are Dr. and Mrs. Louis A. Rubenstein of Ocean Springs, MS.

Jay is a 1990 graduate of Ocean Springs High School.  He was honored to serve as one of the southeastern United States representatives of the Junior Golf Tour. Jay graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Sales Management.  He was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity Beta Epsilon Chapter.  Jay is currently a prosthetist and President and Co-Owner of One Source Prosthetic, Orthotics and Rehabilitation of Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana. He also serves as President and Co-Owner of Rubenstein Wade Investments in Ocean Springs, MS.   

Jay is a member of the Biloxi Yacht Club, the Ocean Springs Educational Foundation, the Ocean Springs Athletic Foundation and served on the Ocean Springs 1699 Historical Society Weekend of Discovery in 2018 and as a Frenchmen to Pierre Lemoyne d’Iberville.  He is also a member of the Big Game Fishing Club and enjoys tournament fishing aboard the winning “Team Perseverance”.  He and his family are members of the Congregation Beth Israel where he served as Vice President from 2005 – 2009 and Head of the Building Committee in 2012-2020 for a new synagogue.

Jay has been a sponsor of GCCA since 1996.  His daughter, Isabella Elise Rubenstein served as a Maid to Queen Ixolib in 2021.  He and his wife, Eden Rubenstein, served in 2015 royal court of The Revelers.

DUKE JAMES PATTON WEBB, JR.

James Patton Webb, Jr. of Gulfport is the husband of Natalie Weaver Webb. They are the parents of sons Reeves Patton Webb and Henry James Webb. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Jim Webb of Gulfport, MS.  

Patton is a high school graduate of Gulfport High School. He graduated from the University of Mississippi, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry in 2009.  He also graduated from the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Dentistry where he received his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry in 2014. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and a National representative for UMMC for the American Student Dental Association.   

Patton is currently a practicing partner at Gulf Coast Dental Care in Gulfport, MS.  He is a Past President of Mississippi Dental Association Coast District and Past President of Century Club of Gulfport. He and his family are members of Trinity United Methodist Church. He is also a member of Bayou Bluff Tennis Club, the Gulfport Yacht Club, The Revelers, Century Club of Gulfport, American Dental Association and Mississippi Dental Association.

Patton was a flag bearer in 2000.  His father, Jim Webb was a Duke in 1999 and 2012.  His sister, April Webb Brannon, was a maid in 2008.
